An opportunity exists for a passionate and highly competent Head of Department to lead Kambala’s innovative Visual Arts and Design department. The successful candidate will work with a motivated and collaborative team that delivers a creative, future-focussed education.

In partnership with the Director of Curriculum and VAD Department, the successful applicant will be responsible for delivering outstanding academic programs and nurturing a culture of collaboration.
The key responsibilities of the position include:
- Develop, lead and manage an effective, collaborative department
- Ensure all subjects and courses have appropriate programs and scaffolding that are designed to meet the needs of the students and NESA requirements
- Lead the development and ongoing evaluation of curriculum within visual arts and design
- Ensure assessment practices are used to inform teaching practices and to collect data that can be used to help staff develop more effective strategies for teaching particular concepts
- Lead a departmental annual review of analysis of HSC, NAPLAN and internal assessment results
- Ensure adherence to Kambala’s assessment and reporting policies and practices
- Active participation in Kambala’s pastoral care program and other co-curricular activities
We are looking for a leader who:
- has expert knowledge and skills in Visual Arts teaching (experience of Design Technology is desirable)
- facilitates the development of a department where professional collaboration and learning are valued and practised
- has excellent interpersonal skills and is confident liaising professionally with staff, students, parents and colleagues
- demonstrates leadership skills, including mentoring and coaching to improve professional practice
- has a passion for growth and professional development of self and others
- has experience of Visual Art teaching (YR7 - YR12)
