Head of Junior School

  • Inspire and lead the delivery of academic excellence

As the Head of Junior School, you will partner with the Principal and Executive Team in providing strategic direction for the Junior School (Pre-school to Year 6).

With a focus on leading innovation through teaching and learning methodology, you will model the School’s values, quality standards, and delivery of academic excellence.

You will inspire staff and students to be leaders within the global community and strive to create an innovative, collaborative, and thriving School.

In your new role you will:

  • Lead the Junior School staff and will be supported by the Primary Years Program (PYP) Coordinator, the Junior School Coordinator, and the Director of Preschool.
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Junior School.
  • Provide Educational Leadership and facilitate the continued growth of a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain a 0.2 teaching load in an area of your choosing.
  • Foster an environment of well-being and innovation across the whole Junior School.
  • Collaborate with various key stakeholders from the Team to ensure enrolments and financial outcomes of the Junior School are met.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Strong strategic and operational leadership with proven ability to deliver on measurables.
  • Current knowledge of curriculum, appropriate research, educational trends, schooling practices and pedagogy, and strong working knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP).
  • Exceptional staff leadership, management, and development.
  • Strong business acumen, financial and resource management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all stakeholders across the Scots School Community.
  • Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to engage in tough conversations.

Remuneration: $160k package plus superannuation and benefits

Tenure: Full-time, fixed term (5-year contract)
