About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic leader to join the leadership team at Canberra Grammar School. Our new Academic Director will provide leadership of academic performance, learning and curriculum development in the Senior School.

The role works particularly closely with the Director of Teaching Development and the Director of Student Development in the Senior School and the Director of Student Learning in the Primary School.

Selection Criteria

As Director of Academic Education the duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Below you will find a list of the key duties and responsibilities:

  • Driving the academic performance of the Senior School’s subjects and courses
  • Leading the Academic Leadership Team and the Heads of Departments in collaboration with the Director of Teaching Development
  • Overseeing and developing all curriculum strands in the Senior School,
  • Leading the efficient administration of the School’s Academic life, including line managing the Academic Leadership Team
  • Working closely with the Head of Senior School, the Senior School Leadership Team, Heads of Departments, the Head of Human Resources
  • Leading the tracking and reporting process
  • Overseeing the positive movement of students into, through and out of School
  • Overseeing the Academic Care and Development of students with specific requirements
  • Other duties as the Head of School and Head of Senior School may require from time to time or as the role evolves.
