Deputy Principal (School Leader B)

Charles Weston School is seeking a dynamic, highly capable and experienced School Leader B with a demonstrated skill set in leading the whole school curriculum and pedagogy.

 

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) world school, it is essential that the applicant is passionate about inquiry learning and has experience in leading an IB curriculum with previous experience as a Primary Years Programme (PYP) coordinator preferred.

The potential applicant demonstrates strength in building positive and productive relationships with staff, students, and their families, with a strong focus on inclusion and student agency.

The successful applicant will be required to lead professional learning communities from preschool to year 6. They will need to establish credibility and partner with senior leadership and executive staff to lead school improvement, with a specific focus on data analysis and actioning multiple sources of evidence to monitor whole school improvement strategies.

Charles Weston School has a strong focus on inclusion so the School Leader B will have effective leadership and management of teaching and support staff to implement adjustments for students across the school to access, participate and achieve growth as a learner. Interest and expertise in Early Childhood is also highly desirable.

The successful applicant will: 

  • Lead PLCs to embed high quality, contemporary teaching and learning practices that follow a collaborative inquiry approach and are focused on improving learning outcomes across the curriculum with students at the centre
  • Collaborate with the principal and leadership team to lead improvement and change through evidence-based practice that inspires staff to contribute to improvement and innovation 
  • Provide leadership in curriculum and pedagogy, assessment and reporting, staff and student wellbeing using a knowledge of contemporary approaches
  • Model personal and professional learning that is clearly linked to the school improvement priorities and supports school leaders and teaching staff to do the same, through the implementation of targeted mentoring and coaching across the school
  • Coordinate, design and deliver professional learning for the IB PYP, with a view to develop the school Professional Learning Plan in alignment with the IB standards and practices and school plan priorities
  • Use a range of systems and processes to ensure that the school’s resources, especially daily staffing, are efficiently organised and managed to support a safe learning environment
  • Embrace inclusion and have a demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to build a culture of high expectations and positive partnerships with students, families, allied health and the wider community
  • Establish strong practice for authentic student agency
