Junior School Music Teacher

Cranbrook School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our dynamic Junior School team, commencing Term 2, 2024. The position will work with students from Pre-School to Year 6 on a part-time (0.4 FTE) basis working on Thursday and Friday.

The Junior School Music Teacher will inspire and educate students from Pre-school to Year 6, with the opportunity to make a positive impact on young minds and foster a love for music within a community that places an emphasis on celebrating each individual child and supporting their growth and development through music-making.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • NESA accreditation to teach in New South Wales (required)
  • Certificate of Kodaly and/or Orff Schulwerk training (required)
  • Demonstrated skills in playing and teaching a variety of musical instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, music history and different musical genres
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the NSW Curriculum and current teaching and learning theory and practice
  • Capacity to create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all learners through varied teaching strategies and pedagogical practices to maximise learning
  • Experience with a range of online platforms, including Learning Management Systems, to support learning and provide feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and cater to diverse learning needs
  • Creative mindset and ability to design interactive and dynamic lessons
  • Organisational skills to manage schedules, events and student records
  • Passion for music education and a commitment to fostering a love for music in students
  • A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
  • A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.

A Master’s Degree in Music or Music Education or a related field would be highly regarded.
