This diverse and pivotal senior role holds a place on the Senior School Leadership Team and leads the Student Engagement/Development Programs for the Secondary School.


About the role
The Assistant Principal Student Engagement (APSE) is responsible for leading the academic care for all students through the development of policies and practices relating to student engagement, pastoral care, wellbeing and implementing strategies that result in students leading their own behaviour well.


The role ensures the academic care programs are well structured and consistent with the College’s educational vision for the Secondary School by leading and inspiring their team which encompasses Heads of Year and Mentors, school psychologists and the therapy dog. The APSE has responsibility for designing, implementing, and leading innovative initiatives based on evidence-based research and contemporary practice to support and empower a proactive and powerful space for young people to thrive.

About you
Having achieved appropriate tertiary qualifications, you are an excellent leader with a proven capacity to improve student engagement and outcomes and inform the tone and culture of the student cohort through consultation, development implementation and review of programs and practices.


A high-level strategic thinker, your passion and commitment to leading continuous improvement is coupled with the ability to review and analyse data to make informed decisions concerning appropriate interventions within the Radford College context.


This has given you demonstrable experience in driving change management processes which identifiably contribute to strategic success. You are a confident self-starter who enjoys building relationships based on trust and respect with multiple stakeholders both inside and outside of the organisation.


Possessing excellent leadership and communication skills, you will have a strong customer-service focus and can be relied upon to work autonomously.


Candidates must:
• Have demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of student development and engagement programs and policies.
• Have a proven capacity to model and share excellent skills and knowledge.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding and knowledge of relevant compliance requirements in relation to child protection and Mandatory Reporting.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage complex student wellbeing matters in a timely and effective manner.
• Demonstrate a passion for collaborative working as a member of a high-functioning team, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Possess excellent communications skills both written and verbal, as well as excellent time management skills.
• Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of student welfare.
• Support Radford’s strategic priorities and goals.

Qualifications
• Teaching qualification (Masters level preferable)
• TQI registration
• Post graduate qualifications in student welfare, psychology and/or social work or a similar discipline
