The opportunity

Kristin School is a co-educational, non-denominational, independent school on Auckland’s North Shore. It provides education for over 1800 students from Early Learning to Year 13, with the International Baccalaureate programmes at Primary and Middle School and dual pathways through NCEA or IB at Senior School.

Due to our outstanding teaching and learning environment, we have an exceptionally low turnover of staff. However, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated teacher to join our incredibly supportive Junior School (Year 0-6) team on a fixed-term, full-time basis for a year and a half. As a classroom teacher you will have expertise in tailoring the educational experience to ensure every child can achieve their best, and providing exceptional pastoral care. You will be responsible for the homeroom programme which integrates Maths, English, Science, Social studies, and Personal and Social development, through an inquiry approach, while specialist teachers support Mandarin, te reo Māori, PE, Music, Visual and Performing Arts.

Important Skills

This role requires a NZ Registered teacher who has:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and parents
  • A commitment to support our co-curricular programme
  • Enthusiasm for technology (we are a recognised Apple Distinguished School), and run Apple Classroom through a managed iPad programme in Year 4
  • A great sense of humour and a passion for teaching
  • Commitment to Kristin’s values; “Progress with vision, integrity and love”.

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) prior experience is not required, however successful candidates will be required to participate in professional development, including attending training outside of school hours.
