Following the retirement of Mr James Allington, after a long and distinguished career in music education, we seek to appoint an inspiring leader, a highly experienced teacher and accomplished musician to build on the School’s enviable reputation for fostering musical excellence.
MLC School is known for its outstanding academic achievement and commitment to excellence in girls’ education. The NESA curriculum is offered from Kindergarten to Year 10 with a choice of the IB Diploma or HSC at Years 11/12. We seek an experienced educator who can build upon the already excellent foundations and continue to develop pedagogical practice in relation to all aspects of music education. They will be committed to ensuring that MLC School remains a leader in music innovation.
Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the Director of Music is responsible for leading our multi award winning Music Department. A core function of the role is to develop the future direction and vision for Music at MLC School from Pre-K to Year 12 in a creative and innovative manner.
In bringing this vision to fruition, you will bring a collaborative and engaging approach to music education and performance, while building a culture of continual improvement in all aspects of the Music Department. You will ensure that ongoing improvement and professional learning are viewed as core aspects of each teacher’s work through the implementation of innovative strategies and best practice processes.
The successful candidate will cultivate strong and collaborative relationships at all levels of the School, have proven teaching ability, leadership capabilities in co-curricular performance, a contagious passion for musical excellence, experience in a variety of methodologies, strong organisational skills and demonstrated capacity to continually renew and expand their pedagogical knowledge.
