Al Zahra College is a co-educational Islamic school from Early Learning Centre to Year 12. Al Zahra College abides by the rules and regulations set-out by the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) in conjunction with the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Al Zahra College is one of the very few schools across Australia to offer all three IB programmes.

Al Zahra College is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent 7-12 Mathematics Teacher commencing Term 1, 2020.

  • Will be required to teach Mathematics MYP (7-10) and DP (11 -12).
  • Willingness to teach Science is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years (IB MYP) and Diploma (IB DP) Programmes would be an advantage.

We are seeking:

  • An experienced MYP Mathematics teacher MYP (Years 7-10) and DP (Years 11-12)
  • Knowledge of Year 7-10 NESA Curriculum, MYP and DP Curriculum
  • A passionate, motivated and enthusiastic teacher to motivate students
  • Ability to confidently access technology
  • A teacher who can quickly form strong relationships with students and teachers within the Faculty, with a willingness to employ a range of teaching methodologies to engage students and enable positive student outcomes.
  • A teacher who purposefully and effectively embraces technology within the classroom.


The successful applicant will:


1. Demonstrate a commitment to uphold, support and contribute to the ethos of the College

2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Mathematics National Curriculum and ACARA documents and be able to put these into effective practice.

3. Be able to demonstrate skills and knowledge to engage students to develop an understanding of Mathematics.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of ICT to teaching and be able to plan and implement programmes to engage learners.

5. Demonstrate a commitment to and enthusiasm for working collaboratively within a learning community and a commitment to professional development and life-long learning.

6. Demonstrate an ability to develop positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.

7. Have a commitment to integrating international perspectives throughout their teaching and learning programmes.

8. Ideally possess a knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of the relevant International Baccalaureate programmes and aim to foster congruent learning experiences for students. This would be an advantage but not essential.

The Mathematics Faculty prides itself on a collaborative approach where innovation and creativity are welcomed and encouraged. The subject is well resourced with a clearly structured teaching and learning program in line with the Australian Curriculum.

The successful applicant would be expected to foster a positive and engaging culture of Mathematics at the College.

Qualifications: 

  • Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
  • Teaching qualification recognised by the New South Wales Standards Authority (NESA)
  • Valid NESA teaching accreditation number
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
