Part Time Head of International Baccalaureate

The French international school of Sydney is looking for a part-time Head of International Baccalaureate (14 hours per week which represents 0.63 of FTE) starting 17 August 2020. 

Lycée Condorcet Sydney (LCS) is the French international school of Sydney. We currently enrol 1050 students from Maternelle (2,5 yo) to Y12 and employ more than 150 teaching and non-teaching staff. The role is to develop and manage with efficiency the IB stream. The Head of IB also contributes to the School's exposure to its educational and cultural environment.

Details of duties:

  • Develop and manage the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and accreditation
  • Maintain congruence between the school board approved mission statement for IB and develop a strategic plan that is aligned to academic activities
  • Responsible for all business development and external marketing activities to meet student enrolment targets
  • Oversee effective and efficient management of academic studies in IB Diploma
  • Manage ongoing curriculum review in IB Diploma
  • Manage subject selection procedures including information evenings, presentations and relevant material
  • Manage variations to students' academic programs and provide advice to students and parents
  • Liaise with parents and students regarding student exchange programs
  • Liaise with Careers Adviser to develop knowledge of IB Diploma and entry requirements for universities in France and Australia. Also, support student applications to UAC, French, American Universities and other option relevant to students' preferences
  • Liaise with the Marketing Manager to develop a comprehensive Open Day and to maximise opportunities for external students entering the school in senior years
  • Liaise with student welfare office (vie scolaire) to follow-up attendance and tardiness
  • In charge of running weekly IB department meetings and organising two mock exams sessions per year
  • Develop strategies to maximize cohesiveness between French Baccalaureate and IB Students and between Parents groups
  • Work with Principal and Deputy Principal to gather, collate and analyse student performance data for all external examinations
  • Liaise with IB French schools offering the IB Diploma elsewhere, eg in Canberra, Hong Kong, Washington, Boston and Chicago to inform other potential structural changes
  • Manage induction of students into the IB Diploma program, including management of students' subject choices and levels
  • Participate in the recruitment, KPI setting, and evaluation activities for IB program teachers
  • Manage teachers and the timetable
  • In charge of the strategic plan of IB, modeling and organising the selection process in Y10 for internal and external students
  • Give advice to the Principal or Deputy Principal about the enrolment
  • With the assistance of the Human Resources Department, assist with the management of teachers accreditations

Skills and experience

  • Min 3 to 5 years in a similar role or in a coordinator position
  • Hold a teaching degree from an Australian education system (or other English speaking education systems)
  • Have a successful work experience teaching/ understanding the IB program
  • Model critical analysis, flexibility and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate proactive and innovative thinking to contribute to and manage best practice within the school
  • Experience in using school softwares (ex: Pronote- Eduka) to follow-up students' homework, attendances...
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to cooperate effectively within a team and in a bilingual culture
  • Capacity to manage own time, complete multiple tasks within a set time frame
  • Bilingual in French and English ( oral and written) would be an advantage
  • Have a current Working with Children Check Clearance or be willing to obtain one prior to employment
  • Have current Child Protection training and First Aid Certificates – desirable
  • Be accredited with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

Salary:

Between $79,964 and $99,219 (yearly gross), as per the Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017 (Teachers). This position includes a leadership allowance level 3 as per the M.E.A.
