Glendowie College

Glendowie College is a, co-educational school of approximately 1300 students from Year 9 to Year 13, located in the suburb of Glendowie in Auckland.

We are the first state school in New Zealand to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme.

At Glendowie College...

We develop and grow young people who:

  • will enter a dynamic and changing world, confident, articulate and resilient; ready to succeed, lead and serve
  • enjoy academic and co-curricular success and opportunity now - at school, nationally and globally

We achieve this by:

  • providing a rigorous academic education and extensive co-curricular programme in a caring environment that challenges and supports our students.

At Glendowie College we recognise that our students live in a global, diverse and technologically advanced world.

Through their academic studies and extensive co-curricular involvement, our students gain confidence; learn to think and communicate effectively; and develop resilience - i.e. build a realistic view of the world, learn that life is meaningful, and develop the ability to improvise.  These are the core skills or attributes for our young people to succeed today and tomorrow.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

At Glendowie College we are an authorised IB World school delivering the MYP to our Year 9 and 10 students.  Each subject area delivers inquiry learning units which are designed to develop student skills, knowledge and capabilities whilst developing their ability to learn how to learn.

Students are challenged to develop student agency through authentic units of work.  Our teachers are committed to delivering high quality teaching and learning programmes that are innovative and meet the needs of our students as learners.
