With a national and international reputation for excellence, Scots College is a world-class, co-educational, independent school with a strong Presbyterian heritage. Founded in 1916, it is an authorised IB World School, located in the Eastern suburbs of Wellington, New Zealand. The rigorous academic curriculum is supported by a diverse range of sporting, cultural, service and leadership opportunities, enabling each student to reach their potential in all aspects of their lives.

The school’s House system provides another dimension to life at Scots with a Dean and Tutor overseeing the pastoral care of each student. Our mission is to provide our students with an excellent and holistic education within a vibrant learning environment, our aim being to allow them to contribute as global citizens who think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and develop the necessary skills to Learn. For life.

 

The College comprises three schools in one: Junior School (Years 1 – 6), Middle School (Years 7 – 10) and Senior School (Years 11 – 13). It is an authorized IB World School and the IB programmes are an integral part of the school’s ethos. Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Scots College’s Junior School provides a safe and caring environment for boys and girls starting their schooling journey from Year 1 to 6. Here students can experience the joys and challenges of learning as they build a strong foundation for their future years. The Junior School offers specialised music, arts and sports programmes and an innovative learning environment where students are supported to achieve to the best of their ability. Through the Primary Years Programme Scots Junior School delivers a quality, rounded education with relevant real-world contexts. Clear goals and expectations are discussed and negotiated with students so that they are active participants in their own learning.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Scots College Middle School provides the opportunity for students in Years 7 to 10 to realise their potential within all areas of College life. The College’s Middle Years Programme curriculum framework provides academic challenges that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world. Students are challenged to become critical and reflective thinkers with a focus on approaches to learning skills throughout the programme to ensure students are ready for the rapidly changing 21st century world.

Diploma Programme (DP)

Scots College Senior School encourages students from Year 11 to 13 to realise their potential and strive for quality. Students are provided with opportunities in many areas in academia, sport, culture, service and spirituality. The College’s philosophy alongside the IB Diploma Programme is to provide a world class education aiming to develop global citizens who are inquirers principled, open-minded, caring, communicators and thinkers.
